Capital trends
Transaction volumes are low with investors reluctant to make active mistakes. The denominator effect, attractive fixed income yields on a relative basis and fears of further valuation adjustments are suppressing demand. But markets turn quickly, often once interest rates pivot.
Institutions
Many mature pension funds and insurance groups have used the higher fixed income yields to match out their liabilities. Institutions will return when rates fall
Consultants
Risk aversion dominates, larger managers are favoured. Money in motion is rebalancing to alternative/specialist sectors.
Wealth
More willing to deploy capital where there is a strong thematic story and the prospect of relatively higher returns.
REITs
Discounts to NAV and stretched balance sheets for some European companies make REITS willing vendors and a good source of stock.
